There are two types of Cocker Spaniels, the American and the English. The American Cocker Spaniel is smaller than the English Cocker Spaniel and has a different conformation. The name Cocker is derived from the woodcock, a game bird the cocker would flush out. They make great hunting dogs or wonderful family pets.

The male American Cocker Spaniel will be 15 inches in height while the female will be 14. Both weigh between 24-28 pounds. The male English Cocker Spaniel will stand 15-17 inches in height and weigh 28-34 pounds. The female will be 14-16 inches and weigh 26-32 pounds. Both breeds are considered average shedders. Their coats should be brushed regularly.

English Foxhounds were bred from three different breeds of dogs, the Greyhound, Bulldog and Fox Terrier. He is a pack hunter with amazing stamina and the ability to endure long runs. He is a very active dog that loves to run. A small yard or an apartment is not the best place for this dog. A home with a lot of yard space is ideal. If confined to a small space he can become destructive. When you take him out for a walk he should be kept on his leash, if an interesting scent catches his attention he will take off to go investigate it. He will do well with children and other pets in your home

They have a short hair coat that is very easy to care for. Brushing their coat every couple of weeks will help with the shedding. The males are 22-25 inches in height and the females are 21-24 inches. Both will weigh between 65-70 pounds.
