Artisan has produced quality in depth since 1979. Our first homebred, "Cooper", was the first American bred World Champion, eventually earning the full name World, International, de las Americas, American, Canadian, Mexican Champion Gaelyn Copper Artisan HIC, PT, ROMX, ROMIX and was the first of more than 85 show Champions, including Group winners, bred at Artisan.
In the world of Herding Trials, Artisan Beardies have been highly successful in AKC, ASCA, and AHBA Trial programs. We have bred or owned to date 4 AKC Herding Champions (of which are 2 Dual Champions), 9 HX (Herding Excellent), 4 HI (Herding Intermediate), 19 HS (Herding Started) plus, in Test levels, 7 Pre-Trial and 30 Herding Tested Beardies. Our Am. Can. Ch. HCh. "Robin" was the first Beardie to earn the Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA) Working Trial Champion (WTCH) title, closely followed by our Am. Can. Ch. WTCH "Buck" HX. This title requires the dog to earn an Advanced title on sheep, cattle, and ducks! We have had many of our dogs earn Level III (Advanced) titles in the American Herding Breed Association (AHBA) as well.
In an effort to introduce new genetics we imported littermates from Scotland in 1996. The bitch is the dam of our Dual Ch. Artisan Northern Night "Rowan" and the male, Sallen Cherokee "Tag" recently completed the Herding Champion title. "Tag" (pictured above) is a classic Highland Beardie.
